Harrison Ford punched Ryan Gosling in the face on set of Blade Runner 2

Ryan Gosling is a great actor and always comes across as a sound bloke as well, but he’s also incredibly handsome – and for that reason there’s a small part of us that would quite like to punch him in the face.

While we may never get to knock that gorgeous face down a peg or two, Hollywood legend Harrison Ford did – albeit by accident.

In a new profile in GQ (via Collider), Gosling told the story of a fight scene gone awry during the filming of Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Blade Runner’ sequel ‘Blade Runner 2049’.

“Yeah, he did [punch me in the face]. It was kind of, you know, a rite of passage. We were just doing a fight scene and, you know, it just happened. But what was funny was, when it was over, they brought ice for my face, and Harrison pushed me out of the way and stuck his fist in the ice.”

Little is known about the sequel but Gosling’s story does reveal his new character will come to blows with Ford’s Deckard.

“As soon as it happened,” Gosling continued, “the director came up to me and said, ‘Look at it this way—you just got hit by Indiana Jones.’ [Ford] came by afterward with this bottle of scotch, and I thought, ‘Oh, I knew this was coming.’ And he pulled out a glass from his pocket, poured me a glass, and walked away with the rest of the bottle. So I guess he felt like he didn’t connect enough to earn a whole bottle.

“You know, they say don’t meet your heroes, but I would say the addendum to that is ‘…unless they’re Harrison Ford.’ ‘Cause he’s a cool motherf**ker.”

‘Blade Runner 2049’ wasn’t warmly received by fans of the classic original when it was first announced, but it has done everything it needs to sway minds since.

Villeneuve was celebrated for his work on ‘Sicario’ and he followed that up with recent sci-fi thriller ‘Arrival’, which increased his stock in Hollywood tenfold. The ‘Blade Runner’ sequel’s cast is similarly impressive, boasting Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi and Dave Bautista alongside Ford and Gosling.

The film is set to be released on 6 October 2017.
