But finally, the movie has finally been able to finish, and to celebrate Bailey shared a teaser look of her as Ariel in all her glory.
Posing on Instagram, Bailey is seen sitting in the sea as the waves crash around her and the sun sets behind her.
Alongside the pic, she wrote: “And just like that..that’s a wrap. After auditioning for this film when I was 18 just about to turn 19, to now finishing filming through a pandemic when I turned 21 ..we have finally made it.”
“I feel so grateful to have experienced this film in all of its glory,” she continued. “It has been the toughest experience being away from everything and everyone I've ever known, to feeling self doubt/ loneliness, but also feeling such freedom and perseverance as I've reached the end.
“This experience has made me so much stronger than I ever thought I could be.”
She went on to credit her co-star Jonah Hauer King, who will play Prince Eric, saying she will be his "riend for infinite lifetimes”, as well as Jacob Tremblay, Melissa McCarthy, Awkwafina and Daveed Diggs.

The remake of The Little Mermaid is an all-star affair, with Bailey leading the cast as the wannabe human, Ariel, who trades her voice for time on Earth in order to find love.
Hamilton star Diggs will voice her crab sidekick Sebastian, while Room actor Tremblay will voice the lovable fish, Flounder.
McCarthy will star as the evil Ursula, the seawitch who gives Ariel’s legs in exchange for her voice.
Javier Bardem will play her father, King Triton, while Awkwafina will play the tell-tale seagull, Scuttle. It will feature songs from the original animation, and new music from Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The Little Mermaid is yet to get a confirmed release date. The original is now streaming on Disney+.
