Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2: full track list revealed for Star-Lord's new mix tape
It’s almost showtime, A-holes! With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ set to storm into cinemas in just over a week, Marvel have now seen fit to reveal just what songs the team will be getting on down to on Peter ‘Star-Lord’ Quill’s new mix tape.
From the existing trailers, we’ve already been aware of at least two tracks that will be included in writer-director James Gunn’s interstellar sequel – namely ‘Fox on the Run’ by Sweet, and ‘The Chain’ by Fleetwood Mac – but now the full track listing has been revealed, via the Marvel Facebook page.
The mostly-1970s pop songs included on the mix tape in the original ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ proved to be far more vital to the film than audiences might have expected going in, and it seems almost certain that music will play a similar role in ‘Vol 2.’
As such, some readers might consider it a spoiler to know what they’re going to hear in advance – so, if in doubt, don’t scroll down.
So if you’re still with us, you’ll now know that, on top of the aforementioned Sweet and Fleetwood Mac tracks, we can expect to hear ‘Mr Blue Sky’ by ELO, ‘Lake Shore Drive’ by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah, ‘Bring It On Home To Me’ by Sam Cooke, ‘Southern Nights’ by Glen Campbell, ‘My Sweet Lord’ by George Harrison, ‘Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)’ by Looking Glass, ‘Come a Little Bit Closer’ by Jay and the Americans, ‘Wham Bam Sham-a-Lang’ by Silver, ‘Surrender’ by Cheap Trick, ‘Father and Son’ by Cat Stevens, and ‘Flash Light’ by Parliament.
Finally, in a change of pace from the first film, we have what would appear to be an original track from an all-new act: ‘Guardians Inferno’ by the Sneepers with David Hasselhoff. Now, obviously the Hoff requires no introduction, and given Peter Quill’s 80s pop culture proclivities he’s an ideal candidate to sing an original track for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.’
Just who The Sneepers are, we couldn’t say… although it’s surely no coincidence that it’s the name of an alien race from the Marvel Comics universe which James Gunn has previously expressed interest in featuring in the movies, but had been forbidden from using because ‘sneeper’ also means… well, read what Mr Gunn had to say on the matter back in September 2015.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ opens on 28 April – while the Awesome Mix Vol 2 will be on sale from the 21st (it’s available for pre-order now).
