Yahoo Movies 'Ghostbusters' director Paul Feig shares disappointment over reboot while defending Leslie Jones
Paul Feig has weighed in on the Ghostbusters debate in defence of Leslie Jones.
The director behind the 2016 all-female reboot of the movie spoke out on Twitter after his star was attacked for sharing her disappointment about the new Jason Reitman version which would bypass their contribution to the franchise.
“An absolute honest to God never-ending supply of bulls**t and hate from these trolls,” Feig tweeted. “Leslie spoke her truth and I support her.”

He also used to opportunity to share his disappointment at not being given the chance to make a sequel.
“I am very open to Jason’s new version of GB but am also sad that our 2016 team may not get to bust again,” Feig added. “We all are. We’re forever proud of our movie.”
His Ghostbusters film was being attacked from the minute it was announced that the line-up would be all-female.
After Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mckinnon and Jones were cast, trolls put great efforts into discrediting the movie, harassing and insulting the stars on social media as well as down-voting every new trailer that got posted on YouTube.
The harassment got so bad that Jones, most famous for her role on Saturday Night Live, had to quit Twitter.
Renewed trolling against the actress began after she posted her feelings about the new movie on Twitter.

Sony announced plans to make a new Ghostbusters film, a direct sequel to the 1989 film, with Reitman who happens to be the son of the original director Ivan Reitman.
This film will not include any of the continuity of the 2016 film but the new line-up is said to include two teen girls and boys.
We Got This Covered claimed to have spoken to a source with knowledge of the script and they say the plot of “the film will focus on a family who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to ‘learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.’
“Unfortunately, there’s no mention of how – or even if – any of the original Busters will factor into the story, but we imagine that this family is somehow connected to one or more of the characters from the first two movies.”
Ghostbusters 3 is scheduled for a 2020 release
