George Miller says a 'Mad Max: Fury Road' sequel is coming
George Miller is adamant that a Mad Max: Fury Road sequel will eventually be released. In fact, he plans to work on it while he’s directing his new movie Three Thousand Years Of Longing, which will star Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton and is set to start filming in March.
“I’m not done with the Mad Max story and I think you have to be a multi-tasker, and there’s certainly another Mad Max coming down the pike after this,” Miller recently told Deadline, before then insisting that he is already “in preparation” on the Fury Road follow-up.

But rather than being subdued by his directing duties on Three Thousand Years Of Longing, the plot details of which are still being kept under wraps, Miller insists that he will work on the fifth installment to the franchise at the same time.
“It’s an interesting question, the idea of multitasking. I discuss this with other filmmakers and I think what happens to me is that when you’re working on one thing, and you get so distracted and focused on that one thing, it’s like a creative holiday to focus on the other one for a bit.”
“It helps you achieve that objectivity, to look at the thing afresh each time and say, I thought I was doing this, but it doesn’t seem to be the case now.”

It turns out that Miller has done this throughout his career, too, as he was actually re-writing and trying to find funding for Fury Road while he was directing the animated movie Happy Feet Two.
“They couldn’t have been more different,” Miller explained. “One was animation, the other live action. It worked for me.”
