Fox settles with family of stuntwoman Joi Harris who died making 'Deadpool 2'

20th Century Fox has settled with the family of Joi Harris, a stunt performer who died on the set of Deadpool 2.

Harris died when she lost control of a high-powered Ducati motorbike during an action sequence on the set of the movie in Vancouver in 2017.

It was reported at the time that Harris, who was a body double for Zazie Beetz’s character Domino, has not been sufficiently prepped for the stunt.

The 40-year old, who was also a professional road racer, was killed instantly when her bike hit a curb and threw her through the window of a building in the downtown area of the city.

Details of the amount of the settlement have not been disclosed.

“There was a whole issue of stunt driver safety, and the fact is the people at Fox were extremely concerned about that and it drove their decision-making,” the family’s attorney Michael Buckley told The Hollywood Reporter.

“They dealt with this very responsibly.”

At the time of Harris’s death, the stunt community slammed the producers of the film, after it emerged that she had not been wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

One stunt veteran said that while she was a professional road racer, she lacked the experience for the stunts needed on set and should not have been hired in the first place.

Following the accident, Beetz posted a tribute to Harris on her Instagram page.

Reynolds added he was ‘heartbroken’.
