Disney+: First wave of confirmed UK launch films revealed

A marketing email promoting the March launch of Disney’s new streaming service Disney+ appears to have confirmed a number of films that will be available at launch in the UK.

Excitingly, at least one of the films that will be available on Disney+ when it launches here on 24 March is currently not available on the service in North America: 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The X-Men film, starring Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence, was previously a 20th Century Fox property before the studio and its assets were acquired by Disney in 2019.

The email blast with the subject line “The greatest stories, all in one place”, was headlined “What’s coming to Disney+”.

It teased “over 1000 films, series and Originals from the 5 wonderful worlds of Disney+, all in one place” with a carousel of film titles laid out below.

From Disney: High School Musical: The Series, Lady and The Tramp, and The Little Memaid.

From Pixar: Piper, Forky Asks a Question, and Wall-E.

From Marvel: Marvel Hero Project, Avengers: Infinity War, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

From Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Final Season, The Mandalorian, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

From National Geographic: The Flood, Free Solo, and The World According to Jeff Goldblum.

Most of these titles had previously been confirmed by Disney, but the full slate of Marvel and Star Wars titles coming to the service at launch remains shrouded in mystery for now.

The link in the email leads people to a generic sign up page for Disney+ with a countdown to launch, which is now just 40 days away. The service will be available at £5.99 per month or £59.99 a year.

It replaces Disney’s previous UK streaming service DisneyLife which is available at £5 a month, but lacks the live action Star Wars, Marvel, Fox, and National Geographic titles.
