The first trailer for the retro-futuristic The Electric State starring Millie Bobby Brown is here.

The Stranger Things star appears as Michelle, an orphaned teenager "navigating life in a society where sentient robots resembling cartoons and mascots, who once served peacefully among humans, now live in exile following a failed uprising", according to a synopsis.

Her life is turned upside down when he is visited by Cosmo, a sweet and mysterious robot operated by her younger brother Christopher whom she believed was dead.

She sets out to find the brother she thought she had lost with Cosmo, and joins forces with smuggler Keats (Chris Pratt) and his robot sidekick Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie) as they venture into the Exclusion Zone, where robots rule.

The first trailer introduces us to Michelle and the futuristic world she lives in, with towering buildings and fantastical robots.

"Right now, all of us have something in common," she says. "We all lost something after the rebellion.

"Robots lost their freedom. Humans lost connection with each other. And I lost everyone I loved."

Set to an ominous rendition of Oasis' 'Champagne Supernova', Michelle meets the adorable bright yellow, grinning Cosmo as she sets off across the destroyed universe with Keats and Herman to find her brother.
