First Look At Sofia Boutella As The Mummy

Busy stopping traffic while filming in London, we’ve got our first look at the making of ‘The Mummy’, and its star Sofia Boutella.

The Algerian-born actress, donned the bandages playing 'an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension’, according to the movie’s synopsis.

Known for her roles in 'Kingsman’ and 'Star Trek Beyond’, Boutella will appear opposite Tom Cruise in the movie, who plays a special forces soldier Tyler Colt.

Continues the movie’s synopsis: “From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.”

Alex Kurtzman is behind the camera, who is breaking into direction after writing and producing movies like 'Watchmen’, 'Star Trek’, and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2’.

It’ll be the first movie is a series of rebooted properties from Universal’s 'monster’ back catalogue, which will all share a cinematic universe.

There are also plans for characters like the Wolf Man, Frankenstein’s monster and Count Dracula in the pipeline.

It emerged in May that Russell Crowe was in talks for a reboot of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

'The Mummy’, meanwhile, is slated for a June release next year.
