First look at Olivia Colman as the Queen in new series of 'The Crown'
The first look at Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II in series three of Netflix hit The Crown has finally arrived.
Confirmed for the role back in October last year, fans of the Broadchurch actress have had to wait until now to see her in her regal finery.
Breakfasting at the palace, she looks just the part in her pearls.
She replaces Claire Foy in the role, with Foy having played the British monarch in the first two series, while Game of Thrones actor Tobias Menzies will take on the role of the Duke of Edinburgh from Matt Smith.
Also joining the cast is Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret (replacing Vanessa Kirkby), while Jason Watkins will play British Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
He replaces John Lithgow, who played Churchill in the first two series, while Princess Anne will be played by Call The Midwife’s Erin Doherty.
The third series will explore plots such as Princess Margaret’s affair with British Baronet Roddy Llewellyn, and her consequent divorce from Antony Armstrong-Jones.
Currently filming, it should air before the end of the year.
