It’s been 5 years since Tim Burton’s ‘Alice In Wonderland’ joined the lucrative $1bn dollar movie club in 2010 prompting a sequel announcement in 2012. However, apart from knowing who the director will be - ‘Muppets Most Wanted’s James Bobin - very little is known about the film… until now.

The first details on ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ including some first look images have been revealed at D23, the official Disney fan convention in California, where it was announced the film will involve time travel.

Disney’s ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ will arrive in 2016 with most of the original principle cast returning including Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham-Carter as the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen.

Joining them will be Sacha Baron Cohen as a new character Time who it transpires is integral to the plot. First up though, here’s the first posters that were revealed in Anaheim.

According to the D23 presentation, the sequel will see Alice returning to Underland only to find things have dramatically gone wrong in the mythical land. Depp’s Mad Hatter is “growing darker” and only Alice can save the day.

She teams up with Baron Cohen’s part man, part clock character Time to travel to the past and future in a bid to save Underland, meeting a variety of characters including Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans), the Mad Hatter’s father, along the way.
