What we know about Fast X Part 2

Fast X Part 2 — also known as Fast and Furious 11 — or is gearing up to enter production with an eye on finally wrapping up this long-running series of racing-heist movies.

Its predecessor, Fast X, was released in 2023 and introduced us to Jason Momoa’s eccentric new villain Dante Reyes.

With that movie ending on a cliffhanger — and bringing Dwayne Johnson’s character Hobbs back into the fold - it seems like there’s still some gas left in the tank that needs burning off before this franchise can finally drive off into the sunset.

With that in mind, here’s what we know so far about Fast X Part 2…

When will Fast X Part 2 be released?

Fast X Part 2 is scheduled for release at some point in 2026 but we don’t have an exact date.

The film was originally scheduled for release on 4 April 2025 but with shooting dates shifting and the production encountering delays in the wake of the 2023 Hollywood strikes, the film was subsequently pushed from this date.

In a May 2024 interview with Collider, Fast X director Louis Leterrier revealed that the new movie now plans to shoot in early 2025. The updated release window would act as a full circle moment, with the franchise celebrating its 25th anniversary that year.

“It’s filming early next year, and it’s coming out in 2026, which will be exactly to the day, 25 years since the first one came out,” said Leterrier.

However, before we get to see this series capper grace our screens, we’ve also been promised a stand-alone movie for Johnson, with Hobbs reportedly acting as “set up” for the final Fast film.

As it stands, it’s still unclear when Johnson’s movie — simply titled Hobbs — will hit cinemas.

What will happen in Fast X Part 2?

With Fast X leaving many of its characters in a tricky spot, all eyes are on Part 2 to see how they will escape Dante Reyes’ wrath and who will make it to the end of the finale in one piece.

For those who missed part one, Dante was introduced in Fast X as a wild and unpredictable villain with a score to settle with Hobbs after he took out his drug kingpin father in a previous film.

By the time credits rolled on Fast X, the fate of Dom and his son Brian was far from guaranteed, while other key players like Roman, Ramsey, Tej and Han found themselves in equally tricky spots.

According to Leterrier, Fast X Part 2 will come full circle, bringing the franchise back to where it started in Los Angeles. “We wanna bring it back home, and still have a great big story to tell,” explained the director during a recent Q&A event.

Due to the cliffhanger-y climax of part one, it’s also understood that the franchise already has its end point in mind: “We needed to understand where we’re ending in order to create the road to it,” Leterrier told the Los Angeles Times last year.

As for specific details, they’re likely to come down the road when production officially begins next year.

Who will be in the cast of Fast X Part 2?

We don’t currently have a confirmed cast list for Fast X Part 2, but judging by what happened in the last movie, we can assume that some characters will live to drive another day.

Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto will likely be back along with Momoa’s Dante, the villain who's out to get him and his son Brian, played by an also-likely-to-return Leo Abelo Perry.

When we last left Tej (Ludacris), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Han (Sung King) and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), their futures were all uncertain — but there’s a strong chance that most, if not all of them, will be back for Fast X Part 2.

The Antartica-set ending of the last movie also confirmed the return of Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty, Charlize Theron’s Cipher and Gal Gadot’s Gisele, so it’s looking positive that they’ll return too.

It's looking like Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw will get a reunion with Johnson’s Hobbs, with Helen Mirren popping up again as Shaw’s mum Queenie. Meanwhile, Alan Ritchson has also expressed interest in returning to the role of Aimes — so perhaps he'll come along for the drive too.

While this feels like a stacked cast, it’s worth remembering that none of these stars have been officially confirmed just yet.

Fast X Part 2 will be released in cinemas in 2026.
