Fan theory claims 'Game of Thrones' ripped off ending of 'The Hunger Games'
Did the ending of Game of Thrones seem familiar to you?
If so, a fan believes they know why as they’ve proposed a theory that the final season of HBO’s fantasy show bears more than a striking resemblance to the ending of The Hunger Games.
Tumblr user wineauntgenna, shared a post detailing the similarities between the characters and plot developments in the finale of the third YA book/movies, Mockingjay - written by Suzanne Collins, Peter Craig and Danny Strong - and the last few episodes of Game of Thrones season 8, written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and based on George R.R. Martin’s story.
In this analysis, the user suggests that Jon Snow is Katniss Everdeen, Danaerys is Alma Coin and Cersei is President Snow.

Katniss, like Jon, is a heroic figure of the people who comes from District 12 (the North), the furthest dwelling from the Capitol (King’s Landing) who constantly turns down opportunities to become a leader for the Rebellion.
She puts her support behind President Coin, a leader who has been in hiding and planning to overthrow the corrupt Snow for years in order to free Panem from his tyrannical grip.
Does that sound like the Mother of Dragons to you?
Coin is also a little paranoid about the “Girl on Fire” like Dany is paranoid about Jon’s popularity, but still Katniss/Jon stick by their leaders.
That is, until both realise that Coin/Dany are still going to be as tyrannical as the leaders they replace.
For Katniss, she discovers from Snow that Coin ordered the bombing over Capitol civilians, including her sister Prim and the rebel aid workers, and that the new President had no plans to end the Hunger Games like she had promised.

Jon witnesses Dany torch innocent people in King’s Landing then reveal her plans to take her armies across Westeros to break the chains of tyranny, meaning the fighting would never end like she had promised.
Both Jon and Katniss then decide to take matters into their own hands by killing Dany and Coin, respectively, and in the end neither are punished just shipped off to the furthest part of the country to live out their days in peace.
The Tumblr user shared this compelling theory on Twitter too and people are pretty shocked by the revelation.
That was a ride.

The theory certainly has legs though arguably Dany goes on a far more significant “Fallen Hero” journey than Coin who is more of a secondary character.
Still, the Katniss and Jon comparisons are pretty compelling so let’s hope the prequel series of Game of Thrones comes out before that Hunger Games prequel book and movie so they can avoid any further accusations of plagiarism.
