Emma Stone closes in on Oscar record with second Best Actress win
After winning her second Best Actress Oscar for Poor Things, Emma Stone closes in on joining an elite set of Hollywood stars.
Emma Stone has joined a small but illustrious group of Hollywood stars who have won multiple Best Actress Oscars.
Stone won Best Actress at Sunday's 96th Academy Awards for her performance as Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things in a close run race with Killers of the Flower Moon star Lily Gladstone who many predicted would win.
The La La Land star — who won her first Oscar for her performance in that film— dedicated the award to the people around her who made it happen, saying: "It’s not about me. It’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies. It’s all of us together.”
“I am so deeply honoured to share this with every cast member, with every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film.”

🍿 Oscars 2024 recap
Other actors with two Best Actress Oscars include Bette Davis, Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor, Olivia de Havilland, Glenda Jackson, Sally Field, Luise Rainer, Vivien Leigh and Hilary Swank.
Stone last won an Oscar for her performance in La La Land in 2017, the infamous Academy Awards night which saw Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announcing the wrong Best Picture winner. The acting duo announced that La La Land had won the top prize, but in fact it had been won by Moonlight.
Stone has been nominated by the Academy five times to date. Best Supporting Actress twice for Birdman and The Favourite, Best Actress twice, and Best Picture as producer of Poor Things. She also has two Best Actress Baftas.
She will reteam with Lanthimos for his next film Kinds of Kindness. Could another Oscar nomination be far behind?
Poor Things is streaming on Disney+.
