Elvis cast: How biopic stars compare to real-life counterparts

Baz Luhrmann's Elvis biopic is set to be one of summer's must-see films, featuring Tom Hanks' much-talked-about transformation into Colonel Tom Parker.

Hanks isn't the only cast member to be rocking a very different look in the superstar's life story — the makeovers will surely put the costume and make-up teams in line for any number of awards.

Take a look at the film's stars and the stunning transformations they've undergone for Elvis.

Austin Butler - Elvis

Playing the title role of Elvis is Austin Butler, a 30-year-old US actor who has appeared in Sex and the City spin-off The Carrie Diaries, and Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood.

His look obviously features the trademark Elvis quiff and lip curl.

Tom Hanks – Colonel Tom Parker

Fans of Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks were surprised to see first-look images from Elvis showing him at a much bigger size than usual in role as manager Colonel Tom Parker.

By the time he appeared at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, Hanks was back to a more toned look.

Olivia DeJonge – Priscilla Presley

Australian actor Olivia DeJonge, 24, has gone for a radical change in hair to become Elvis' wife Priscilla Presley, with a much darker, more bouffant do.

She starred in recent TV drama The Staircase, based on the true crime documentary of the same name.

Richard Roxburgh – Vernon Presley

Another Australian star, the 60-year-old actor who appeared in Catherine the Great, Van Helsing and Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! plays Elvis' dad Vernon.

Helen Thomson – Gladys Presley

Like her fellow Australian star DeJonge, Helen Thomson has had a hair makeover - swapping to a dark, rollered style to play Elvis' mum Gladys.

Viewers may recognise her from Elisabeth Moss crime drama Top of the Lake.

Kelvin Harrison Jr – B.B. King

The film also features fellow musician, B.B. King — played here by Kelvin Harrison Jr who shows the blues singer in his younger days.

US actor Harrison, 27, is best known for his roles in The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Waves, both of which he won numerous awards for.

Elvis is released in cinemas on 24 June.
