Disney says it will keep making R-rated superhero movies like 'Deadpool'

Just because Disney has acquired 21st Century Fox, it doesn’t mean that Deadpool will suddenly have to watch his language.

According to Variety, Disney CEO Bob Iger said during a call with investors: “We will continue in that business. There’s certainly popularity.”

The 21st Century Fox, Fox Searchlight and FX brands, which now come under the Disney umbrella, are known for more adult content.

Notable movies in its archives include Deadpool and Deadpool 2, along with the stunningly violent Logan, and then even going back to the likes of the Alien movies, also produced by Fox.

But while Disney itself is better known for wholesome family entertainment, it’s often dallied with more grown-up material.

Back in 1993, The Walt Disney Company acquired Harvey Weinstein’s Miramax, which would make Tarantino’s blood-spattered classic Pulp Fiction from 1994, technically, a Disney movie.

Disney grabbed Fox’s film and TV assets for a massive $71.3 billion last summer, dwarfing the $4.05 billion it paid for Lucasfilm in 2012.
