Disney+ has announced the new releases coming to the streaming service in May, 2020.
Disney’s VOD platform launched in the UK on 24 March, packed to the rafters with movies and shows, but as with all streaming service, there’s always room for something new.
Big highlights include the debut of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as part of the platform’s May the Fourth celebrations, plus a brand new series that explores some of Disney’s most iconic props.
Here’s what you can get stuck in to on Disney+ this month.
Zenimation
Added on 22 May, this new short-form series from Walt Disney Animation Studios is designed to promote mindfulness and relaxation, with each episode themed around a different topic, and comprising of compilations of some of Disney’s most stunning animations.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift City of Lover Concert was added to Disney+ in the UK on 18 May for a limited time only. Filmed last September at the L’Olympia Theatre in Paris, the concert was broadcast on American television over the weekend as a consolation for Swift fans after her Loverfest summer tour was canceled due to the pandemic.

May the Fourth be with you
Star Wars Day has become a full-fledged celebration of the Star Wars universe embraced by the entire galaxy, and this Star Wars Day, or May the Fourth, Disney+ is honouring the global Star Wars fan community with brand-new original content joining the service’s comprehensive collection of Star Wars movies and shows.

Not only can fans can enjoy Episode 8 of The Mandalorian on Friday 1 of May, they can also look forward to the highly anticipated conclusion of Star Wars: The Clone Wars alongside the global premiere of the new eight-episode documentary series, Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian.

Film historian and prop collector Dan Lanigan reunites iconic Disney movie props with the filmmakers, actors, and crew who created and used them in some of Disney’s most beloved films. Throughout this journey, Dan will recover lost artefacts, visit private collections, and help restore pieces from the Walt Disney Archives to their original glory. Among the films featured this season are Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Mary Poppins, The Muppet Movie, Tron and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

The Big Fib
Ever thought you could spot a fib better than a kid? Find out on The Big Fib. A new Disney+ game show, hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown and featuring Rhys Darby as her robot sidekick, C.L.I.V.E. In each episode of this comedy game show, a kid starts by playing a warm-up round where a silly liar and an authentic expert share fabulous fibs and fun facts. Starring up and coming comedic talent, this round is played for laughs as well as always having a nugget of real information about the topic be it ice-cream, tree-climbing or toy design. Next our kid contestant plays the main round where they question an expert who’s paired with a really good liar on the same topic.
It’s up to our kid to find the fibber.
