Loki might have only just delivered its universe-changing finale, but it isn't long at all until the MCU is back on the small screen — albeit a little differently. Animated series What If...? deals in alternate scenarios involving Marvel characters, and will mark the final appearance of the late Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa. This time, though, he's T'Challa as Star-Lord.
Elsewhere, the latest Disney live-action remake becomes available to all subscribers, after several months on Premier Access. There's also a new comedy movie starring John Cena and the final season of The Walking Dead — one of the most successful and prominent TV series of the last few decades.

Original movies coming to Disney+ UK in August 2021
Cruella (27 August)
Cruella first debuted on Disney+ back in May, for those willing to part with some extra cash to pay for Premier Access. It's now due to be made available to all subscribers, who will get chance to experience Emma Stone's take on the puppy-wearing baddie of 101 Dalmatians. Director Craig Gillespie's movie was lauded for its style and energy, as well as the performances of Stone and co-stars including Emma Thompson.
Vacation Friends (Star, 27 August)
Friends you meet on holiday occupy a strange place in the social firmament. Nowadays, you probably swap Facebook friend requests and occasionally like the odd picture of them clinking glasses with each other at a restaurant.
New comedy Vacation Friends plays on this unusual social dynamic, with a couple played by Lil Rel Howery and Yvonne Orji shocked when a duo they met on holiday (John Cena and Meredith Hagner) arrive at their wedding.
Original TV shows coming to Disney+ UK in August 2021
What If…? (weekly from 11 August) + Marvel Studios Legends: What If...? (4 August)
Marvel's latest is something a bit different for their cinematic universe. Based on a comic book run which debuted in the 1970s, the series takes many of the franchise's most beloved characters in depicts them in alternative scenarios from around the multiverse.
What if Peggy Carter had become a super soldier? What if T'Challa was the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy? It's all presided over by the multiverse-spanning Watcher, voiced by Jeffrey Wright.
Bless the Harts S2 (Star, S1 available + S2 weekly from 11 August)
This adult animated sitcom returns for its second season, again benefiting from the voice talents of Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Jillian Bell. The story centres around a working class family in North Carolina as they struggle to make ends meet.
Blowing Kisses (Besos Al Aire) (Star, 11 August)
This two-part Spanish romcom miniseries tells eight interlinked stories of love and romance set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Diary of a Future President S2 (18 August)
Told from the perspective of a 12-year-old Cuban-American determined to one day become president of the United States, this teen comedy follows Elena (Tess Romero) as she navigates middle school. The show's exec producer Gina Rodriguez plays Elena in flash-forward sequences, showing that she will eventually go on to achieve her dream.
Mixed-ish (Star, weekly from 18 August)
One of two series spinning off from the super-successful sitcom Black-ish, this prequel show follows Rainbow Johnson's childhood years in the 1980s. Arica Himmel leads the cast, with Tracee Ellis Ross — who plays the adult version of the character in Black-ish — serving as narrator.
The Walking Dead (Star, weekly from 23 August)
More than a decade after Andrew Lincoln first started taking on zombies in The Walking Dead, the uber-popular horror series is finally due to come to an end with its 11th season. Lincoln has by now moved on, but long-running cast members Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are still involved as the story brings its group together with a network of survivors known as the Commonwealth.
Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian — Making of the Season 2 Finale (25 August)
Disney continues its run of documentaries looking behind the scenes of its biggest streaming shows with this latest special, looking at the blockbuster finale of The Mandalorian's second season — including that surprise cameo.
McCartney 3, 2, 1 (Star, 25 August)
Music producer Rick Rubin coaxes a rare interview out of former Beatles bassist Paul McCartney in this six-episode series, exploring the musician's lengthy career in showbiz. It's an intimate conversation between two music veterans in which they talk about every element of the creative process and the way the industry has changed throughout their respective careers.
Disney Princess Remixed: An Ultimate Princess Celebration (27 August)
This half an hour special features reimagined performances of iconic Disney songs in order to celebrate the history of the Disney Princess, with 12-year-old social media star Txunamy Ortiz as narrator.
Only Murders in the Building (Star, weekly from 31 August)
In this darkly comic thriller series, Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez portray a trio of true crime obsessives who become embroiled in a real life murder case. Naturally, they do what every true crime obsessive worth their salt would do — they start a podcast about it. Of course, the net begins to close in on the trio themselves as suspicion grows.
