Disney+ December 2022: New movies and TV from Muppet Christmas Carol to Banshees of Inisherin
Christmas is on the way, which means there's inevitably a festive element to the offering on Disney+ UK this month. At the peak of the December-focused new arrivals is the "full-length version" of The Muppet Christmas Carol, which returns the long-cut song When Love is Gone to the movie. The original cut remains available to stream as well.
Elsewhere, David O Russell's star-studded Amsterdam arrives on the platform in the wake of its cinematic run, along with the Oscar hopeful drama The Banshees of Inisherin. The latter serves as an In Bruges reunion, with director Martin McDonagh working again with lead actors Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.

Here's everything we know is heading to Disney+ UK in the next month...
Original movies coming to Disney+ UK in December 2022
Amsterdam (7 December)
Based on a real political plot from the 1930s, David O Russell's latest is another of his A-list ensemble dramas, with Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington and Anya Taylor-Joy just a few of the famous faces to show up in Amsterdam. The story follows a trio of friends who find themselves wrapped up in the murder of a retired US army general.
The Muppet Christmas Carol: Full-Length Version (9 December)
As it celebrates its 30th anniversary, The Muppet Christmas Carol is set to be available on Disney+ UK in its most complete form to date. Famously, the song When Love Is Gone was cut from the film by Disney boss Jeffrey Katzenberg and has only appeared on a handful of home entertainment editions. It is now being restored to the film from 9 December, for those willing to check the "extras" section of the movie on the streaming platform.
The Banshees of Inisherin (21 December)
Martin McDonagh reunites Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, 14 years after they shared the screen for his pitch-black comedy In Bruges. Farrell plays the charming-but-dim Pádraic, whose quiet life on "an island off the coast of Ireland" is shockingly rocked when his friend Colm (Gleeson) decides he wants to end their relationship. What follows is a break-up film with a difference, shot through with the sort of tragicomic strangeness for which McDonagh has become known. Awards season beckons, with Farrell in particular attracting real buzz for his performance.

National Treasure: Edge of History (two-part premiere on 14 December, then weekly)
Despite mixed reviews from film critics, the National Treasure films — starring Nicolas Cage as treasure hunter Ben Gates — remain firm favourites for many. Their status has triggered this TV series, which sends puzzle-solver Jess Valenzuela (Lisette Alexis) on the trail of a treasure connected to her late father, with a black market antique dealer attempting to get there before her.
