Dick Van Dyke swears to defend Angela Lansbury after 'Star Trek' actor offers her a fight in the octagon
This is getting out of hand now.
After Justin Bieber inexplicably offered Tom Cruise a UFC bout on Twitter - a man who, while in very decent shape indeed, is 31 years Bieber's senior – others have been taking to social media to do the very same.
In the latest instance, it's actor Brent Spiner, best known as the android Lieutenant Commander Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
And he’s taking aim at Murder, She Wrote legend Angela Lansbury.

“I would like to challenge Angela Lansbury to fight me in the octagon!,” he hollered via his Twitter account.
“If you back down, Angela, you are scared. And everyone will know it! Who will put up the money for this?!!!”

It's worth bearing in mind at this stage that Lansbury is 93, and not on Twitter.
Nevertheless, no lesser man than Dick Van Dyke has come to her defence.
“I will defend the honor of Dame Lansbury for free!! The pier at the sundown!! Be there, if you dare!!” the Poppins icon shot back.

Disgracefully, Spiner instantly backed down at the very least resistance, making us wonder, frankly, if he was indeed serious in the first place.
I give up!

As yet, Bieber's challenge to Cruise has not been answered by the Mission: Impossible icon, despite a direct appeal by the Sorry singer to UFC boss Dana White to make it happen.
However, Irish UFC champion Conor McGregor has offered to host and promote the bout, should Cruise take him up on it, while himself offering Mark Wahlberg a similar fight.
What a time to be alive.
