Despite name, 'Halloween Ends' won't be the last Halloween movie, says Danny McBride
There's a definite finality to the name Halloween Ends, but according to Danny McBride, current custodian of the veteran horror franchise, it will live on.
McBride, writer and star of movies like Tropic Thunder and Alien: Covenant, took charge of writing the latest in the series, bringing back original star Jamie Lee Curtis for the 2018 reboot, Halloween.

Then last week, Universal Pictures announced there will be two more movies on the way, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, penned by McBride, and directed by David Gordon Green.
But he reckons that after he's done with it, the iconic murderer and boiler suit fan Michael Myers will be back in some form or another.
“I think no way and I wouldn’t want it [to end],” McBride told Slash Film.
“I feel like Michael Myers is such an iconic horror character, there’s a simplicity to why he’s scary that I think it will always be relevant for generations to come.
“I think we’re lucky enough to have a shot at it right now. I’m sure 10 years from now there’ll be another group of knuckleheads that think they have the answer to what they should do with Michael Myers next.”
He went on: “When we first were signed up for it, we were going to originally try to do three movies back-to-back.
“Ultimately, we were kind of all like let’s make sure we can do this one good. Then when we connected with people, we all decided let’s try to continue what we were going to do.”
Once McBride has run out his tenure, there will have been – ominously – 13 Halloween movies in all.
Director John Carpenter's original, released in 1978 and starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance, remains one of the great horror movies of all time.
As of last year, the movies have made $832 million at the box office, adjusted for inflation, with McBride's first effort bringing in $255 million worldwide.
Halloween Kills is due for release in October 2020, with Halloween Ends set for October, 2021.
