Chris Pine teases Patty Jenkins’ 'Star Wars: Rogue Squadron'
Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins has already told Chris Pine about her plans for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Jenkins was working on the blockbuster, which will focus on a brand new generation of starfighter pilots.
Pine, who has now worked with Jenkins on Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman 1984, and TV’s I Am The Night, told Collider that he has “spoken to her about, not my involvement, but the story.”

Unsurprisingly, Pine didn’t go into any details about Jenkins’ vision for the Star Wars universe, but he did heap praise on what she has in store.

“It sounds really, really great. But I’m ecstatic for her, excited for what she’s about to embark on. If there’s anyone that can reimagine and breathe fresh, new life into it, it’s her.”
Of course, Pine’s comments will almost certainly lead to speculation that he will be cast in Jenkins’ Star Wars movie, which will be an original story.
From the sound of things, Jenkins will soon be casting the intergalactic blockbuster, as she recently told Collider that her and an unnamed writer have been working on the story treatment “for a while,” and it is nearly finished.

Jenkins originally opened up about how proud she was to be making her very own Star Wars movie when she was announced as its director. For Jenkins it has been a “lifelong dream as a filmmaker to one day make a great fighter pilot film.” As the daughter of a fighter pilot, she used to watch her father’s squadron take off in their F4s every morning.
Her father William T Jenkins died in a NATO dogfight, and Jenkins said this “ignited a burning desire to one day channel all of those emotions into one great film.”
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron will be released around Christmas 2023.
