Chris Evans follows accidental NSFW pic blunder urging people to vote

Chris Evans hit the headlines over the weekend after appearing to have accidentally posted a nude picture to his Instagram stories.

The gaffe from the Captain America star showed up on social media on Saturday, in which a video he posted ended with a naked image.

As mortifying as the moment must have been for Evans, he's now used his own embarrassment for a good cause.

Returning gingerly to social media, and armed with the face-palm emoji, he's now urged followers to make sure they vote.

“Now that I have your attention,” he tweeted, “.... VOTE Nov 3rd!!!”.

Evans' Avengers co-star Mark Ruffalo had also decided to go political with the situation over the weekend, tweeting: “@ChrisEvans Bro, while Trump is in office there is NOTHING you could possibly do to embarrass yourself. See... silver lining.”

Meanwhile, his urging of fans to do their civic duty has also won the praise of his Knives Out co-star Jamie Lee Curtis.

Evans launched his own bipartisan politics app/website A Starting Point last month, in the hope of bringing people together with opposing views.

He told People magazine: “There's a lot of things you can do as an actor with your name. I could be making booze — I don't discourage anyone from doing that, I love booze — but there's no denying that I played a certain character, and it just so happens to align with part of my nature in terms of being someone who is politically involved and who cares about the wellbeing of people in this country.

“You have to use your platform to do more than just retweet things. Nowhere on the site is my opinion. I think that's really important if you want to try to become synonymous with a place of unbiased information and accurately represent what is happening in Washington."
