Chloe Moretz joins Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton in horror remake Suspiria
It seems Chloe Moretz’s career hiatus will be considerably shorter than anticipated.
The 19-year old actress, who had not long since dropped out of every project she had in the pipeline including ‘The Little Mermaid,’ has now signed on to star in the remake of ‘Suspiria,’ Variety reports.
And Moretz will be in good company, as Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson are also set to appear in the film from Italian director Luca Guadagnino (‘A Bigger Splash’) for Amazon Studios.

The original 1977 ‘Suspiria’ is one of the most beloved films from the esteemed Italian horror director Dario Argento. It centres on a ballet school which is secretly run by a coven of witches – but as is often the case with Italian horror, the plot is secondary to the arresting aesthetics and atmosphere.
It’s officially classed as the first film in Argento’s ‘Three Mothers’ trilogy, followed by 1980’s ‘Inferno’ and 2007’s ‘The Third Mother.’
A remake has been stuck in development hell since 2008, when the unlikely candidate of David Gordon Green (‘Pineapple Express,’ ‘Your Highness’) announced plans to direct the film, much to the displeasure of devotees of the original, not to mention Argento himself.
Natalie Portman and Isabelle Furhman were in line to play the lead at different times, but ultimately Green stepped down as director after being unable to get the project funded. He is still on board as producer.
Guadagnino worked with both Swinton and Johnson on ‘A Bigger Splash,’ but this will be his first time working with Moretz.
However, his young lead is no stranger to horror remakes, as Moretz previously took leading roles in 2010’s ‘Let Me In’ and 2013’s ‘Carrie.’
‘Suspiria’ will reportedly start production later this month in Italy and Hungary.
