Cate Blanchett suffered chainsaw accident during lockdown
Two time Oscar winning actor Cate Blanchett has revealed that she cut her head with a chainsaw during quarantine.
The 51-year-old star of Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator and Blue Jasmine made this admission during a recent podcast discussion with the former Australian prime minister Julia Gillard, although she also made sure to downplay the incident, too.
“I’m fine. I had a bit of a chainsaw accident yesterday, which sounds very, very exciting, but it wasn’t. Apart from the little nick to the head, I’m fine,” Blanchett told Gillard’s podcast, via the Guardian.

As you’d expect, Gillard was rather startled by Blanchett’s admission, and was quick to tell her to take more caution with the dangerous tool.
“Be very careful with that chainsaw. You’ve got a very famous head, I don’t think people would like to see any nicks taken out of it.”
As well as revealing her brush with death, Blanchett also got very candid about how life in lockdown has been for her and her family. Blanchett has spent it in Tunbridge Wells, where she lives with her husband Andrew Upton and their four children, and she has spent most of her time trying to help her eldest son study and revise for his A-level exams.

Clearly Blanchett has found it a little challenging, too, as she said that she’s been “left with an 18-year-old who doesn’t really want to have anything to do with me. So it’s a little bit discombobulating, but it’s a high-class problem, we’re all well.”
Blanchett has had just as much trouble with her five-year-old daughter, too, before declaring, “I have a huge respect for the teaching profession. I always have.”
