Cagney & Lacey Star Joins Spider-Man: Homecoming
It looks as though Tyne Daly has joined ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
According to Deadline, the 70-year-old American actress has signed on for the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ solo movie alongside Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr.
“Tyne Daly has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Jon Watts-directed pic for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios,” they revealed. “The star of stage and Cagney & Lacey and Judging Amy (she won six Emmys between them) joins Tom Holland in his first solo pic as the webslinger.”

Of course, Tyne Daley is most famous for the role of Detective Mary Beth Lacey in the hit American TV series, ‘Cagney & Lacey’ and she also made a regular appearance alongside Peter Falk in ‘Columbo’.
But she’s also had her fair share of film roles, appearing as Harry Callaghan’s first female partner in the ‘Dirty Harry’ sequel, ‘The Enforcer’.
Now, it looks as though Daly will be starring in her first superhero movie.
But which role will she play?
Unfortunately, it looks as though that’s being kept under wraps. “They are keeping Daly’s role mum,” they explained. But Aunt May is already out of the question, with Marisa Tomei cast as a much-younger version of the iconic comic book character.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man, with Marissa Tomei as Aunt May, Zendaya as Michelle and Tony Revollori as Manuel. Robert Downey Jr. is rumoured to be making an appearance as Iron Man, with Michael Keaton as the film’s main villain.
Jon Watts will direct, based on a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ heads to cinemas on 28 July 2017.
