With Lopez as producer, the studio will give the character a Latino twist, where Roberto - or Bob as he’s better known - sets off to complete a big new job in Puerto Rico that will bring people of all cultures together.

As per the movie’s official synopsis, Bob The Builder: The Movie “takes on issues affecting the island and digs deeper into what it means to build." What's more, "Bob’s journey will celebrate the vibrant and colourful textures of the Caribbean Latin nations and their people.”

While a director has not been confirmed, the movie is currently being written by screenwriter ​​Felipe Vargas.

Who is in the cast for Bob The Builder: The Movie?

So far, only one cast member has been confirmed for Bob The Builder: The Movie and that’s Bob himself, with In The Heights star Anthony Ramos voicing the film’s titular tinkerer with a can-do attitude.

Ramos will also act as a producer and recently shared his excitement at bringing the character to the big screen. “For years, Bob the Builder’s characters have inspired young people around the world,” said Ramos. “A movie about friends working together, a celebration of a beautiful home they share, and how love can help to conquer any obstacle in your way. Can we fix it? Yes, we can!”

His enthusiasm was matched by Mattel Films’ president Robbie Brenner, who said “Pairing Anthony and Felipe’s genius vision for the story will capture this beloved character in a manner that audiences who grew up with Bob will recognise, and all-new audiences will enjoy."

Bob The Builder was originally voiced by British actor Neil Morrissey in the UK version of the show while Greg Proops, William Dufris and Marc Silk voiced him in the show's various American counterparts.
