If, like us, you’re getting a bit bored of what’s on your telly, it may be time to bring out the trusty DVD player.
Physical discs have seen a resurgence recently as families watch their collection of old favourites during lockdown.
Not to mention, buying a DVD can often turn out cheaper in the long run than continually having to rent your favourite film from a streaming service.
So, if like us, you’ve been having a look around for the best discs on sale this week, we’ve rounded-up everything from new 4K releases, to cheap and cheerful buys that can be a form of escapism for an hour of two.
Best new DVD, Blu-ray and 4K releases
Perhaps the best of this week’s new discs is the horror thriller The Owners, a film that may fly under many people’s radars but sees former Doctor Who star Sylvester McCoy in wonderfully unnerving form.
Two of the later Hellraiser sequels get their UK Blu-ray debut too. Neither Hellraiser: Revelations nor Hellraiser: Judgment could be called the peak of the franchise, but there’s fun for completists at least here.
Finally, the 80s cult hit Restless Natives gets a feature-packed Blu-ray release too, as part of Studiocanal’s excellent Vintage Classics label. Although we’re not quite ready for films of the 80s to be called ‘vintage’ just yet…
