The Beatles rooftop concert to play in IMAX cinemas
The final live performance by The Beatles is set to play in IMAX cinemas around the world, 53 years after it took place on the rooftop of Apple Corps’ Savile Row headquarters.
The concert, which is part of Peter Jackson's new docuseries The Beatles: Get Back, now streaming on Disney+, will debut as a 60-minute feature at an Exclusive IMAX Event Screening and Filmmaker Q&A on 30 January.
The feature will then get a theatrical run on 11-13 February.
“I’m thrilled that the rooftop concert from The Beatles: Get Back is going to be experienced in IMAX, on that huge screen,” says director/producer Peter Jackson. “It’s The Beatles’ last concert, and it’s the absolute perfect way to see and hear it.”

As documented in Get Back, the Fab Four's rooftop performance on 30 January, 1969 was the culmination of an ambition month of activity for the band — comprised of Sir Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Sir Ringo Starr — who had convened for a month to write, rehearse, record and perform a new album.
The rehearsals and recordings were also filmed for a planned TV special, which eventually saw the light of day in May 1970 as the feature documentary Let It Be, which was released alongside the album of the same name, a month after the band broke up.
The rooftop gig became part of the band's legend, and this IMAX release will give fans the chance to immerse themselves in the band's last ever live set which includes the only live performances of hits such as Get Back, Don't Let Me Down, I've Got A Feeling and One After 909.
The band had not played live in front of an audience since August 1966, when they performed at Candlestick Park, San Francisco at the end of a gruelling 18-day US tour.
Blaming screaming audiences and poor sound systems, the band quit touring to focus on making music in the studio, releasing Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band the following year.
The concert, which features in its entirety in The Beatles: Get Back, will be optimised for IMAX screens.
