Baftas 2022: Full list of winners as Power of the Dog and Dune dominate

Watch: The Power Of The Dog takes top honours at Bafta film awards

Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog was the big winner at the 2022 Baftas picking up Best Picture and Best Director for the Netflix film.

Denis Villeneuve's Dune won five awards in total including Best Score for Hans Zimmer and Visual Effects.

There were a number of surprises in the acting categories with Will Smith beating hometown hero Benedict Cumberbatch to Best Actor for his role in King Richard, and After Love star Joanna Scanlan won Best Actress ahead of category favourite Lady Gaga for House of Gucci.

Ariana Debose picked up Best Supporting Actress for West Side Story while deaf actor Troy Kotsur won Supporting Actor for CODA.

Bafta chairman Krishnendu Majumdar has said the academy is so “relieved and excited” to be back in person at the Royal Albert Hall for the prize ceremony, after a largely virtual ceremony was held in 2021 due to the pandemic.

Speaking backstage after the win, Lambert said: “Its great to be recognised, I absolutely love it. We spent a good amount of time figuring out how we were going to do this.

“I made a conscious decision, I did not re-read the book or re-watch the David Lynch version or the three-part series, I just wanted to make sure I was influenced by the actual script, it was a conscious decision.

“We wanted our work to be seamless so it didn’t take it out of the movie, I think we spent so much time trying to get every part of the movie to be seamless it kind of worked out.”
