Marvel's 'Infinity Saga' box set could contain 'humiliating' new deleted scenes says Kevin Feige

You might have thought you’d seen all you were going to see from the 22 MCU movies that make up the Infinity Saga, but there’s still more to show says Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, and some of it is really embarrassing.

Speaking at Empire’s special live podcast event last night, Feige discussed the divisive decision to cut a scene where a bunch of heroes pay tribute to the fallen Tony, and how he feels about revealing it to the world after the fact.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to cut it out, but it was the best decision for the movie, it’s a great avenue to say we’ll put it out there.”

He continued, “There are things that we think nobody should ever see. We’ve just recently been discussing that now we could start to show some of our less proud moments. If we do a big giant Infinity Saga box set, we’re might include… I’m assuming that if you’re going to spend the money to buy a box set with everything in it, you’re a fan.

“It’ll take more than a couple of really, really bad scenes to turn you.”

“They’re interesting, I like to see them. There’s still stuff that pops up from the original Star Wars trilogy - Tosche Station for instance. It’s not great, it certainly shouldn’t be in the movie, but I love seeing it.

“I love that they shot it, and it exists, and we get to see it. Usually we love putting that stuff out there, there’s some things we’ve been too humiliated to show, but I think we’ll bring out soon enough.”

It’s a real sign of the confidence Marvel have off the back of Endgame’s enormous success - finally beating Avatar at the top of the all-time global box office chart last month - that they’re now prepared to air their dirty deleted scene laundry to the world.

It’s also a genius marketing movie - what better way to sell a box set comprised of movies most people probably already own than to throw in some super embarrassing stuff? We know we’re going to be pre-ordering the set off the back of Feige’s revelations.

Avengers: Endgame will be out on Blu-ray on 2 September, and Empire’s brilliant live podcast will be on iTunes on 23 August.
