Ana de Armas calls Friends' Chandler Bing 'the best English tutor'

Oscar-nominated actress Ana de Armas learned the English language by bingeing Friends.

Famed for her scene-stealing turn as Paloma in Daniel Craig's final James Bond movie No Time to Die, as well as roles in Netflix's Blonde and Knives Out, the Havana-born star revealed as much during her opening Saturday Night Live monologue this weekend.

She told the studio audience: "I speak English, but I didn't when I first got to the US. I was born in Cuba, came to America when I was 26 and I learned English the way everyone who comes to this country does: by watching Friends.

"Who would've thought that the best English tutor would be Chandler Bing... I mean look at me now, could I be any better at English?"

After announcing that she's set to become an official American citizen in a few weeks, de Armas also regaled the crowd with a crazy Robert De Niro anecdote, whom she worked with on the 2016 sports biopic Hands of Stone.

Apparently, the Hollywood icon, who'll jet off to Cannes Film Festival next month for the Killers of the Flower Moon premiere, casually told her that he'd "say hello" to her family on his next trip to her homeland.

Some time later de Armas received a call from her hysterical dad, who'd just been paid a visit at work by De Niro.

In other news, Lil Rey Howery has questioned the Oscars attention directed towards de Armas earlier this year.

“I’m not going to say anything, but [Blonde was] nominated as a Razzie," he told Vulture's Into It podcast.

"I did Deep Water with her, with Ben Affleck. Amazing. I'm just talking about the Academy. What are y'all doing? Come on, fam. For real?"
