Yankees' Jose Trevino has Grade 2 quad strain
Yankees catcher Jose Trevino's injury is a Grade 2 quad strain and "going to be some time," New York manager Aaron Boone told reporters before Sunday's 6-5 loss at the Baltimore Orioles.
The Yankees placed Trevino, 31, on the 10-day IL prior to Saturday's 6-1 win over the Orioles.
Trevino left in the ninth inning of Friday's 4-1 victory against the Orioles.
Through 60 games this season, Trevino is slashing .244 /.303/.411 with eight home runs and 27 RBI.
Entering the All-Star break, the Yankees are 58-40 -- a game behind the first-place Orioles (58-38) in the AL East.
"It's been a rough several weeks here for us," Boone said after Sunday's game. "Acknowledge that. The reality is ... feel like we're competing our asses off starting to turn the corner and see the signs we want to see to turn this thing around. While acknowledging that, the other reality is we're in a good spot."
