Where Memphis football landed in college football polls after Week 3, win over FSU
Memphis football is moving up.
The Tigers (3-0) were ranked No. 23 in the US LBM Coaches Poll that was released on Sunday afternoon. Memphis is coming off what coach Ryan Silverfield called a "monumental" win over Florida State on Saturday in Tallahassee, and the win earned the Tigers some more national respect.
Memphis still missed out on the AP poll. The Tigers were the first team out of the rankings, just behind No. 25 Texas A&M. Northern Illinois was the only Group of Five team ranked, at No. 23.
Memphis was ranked No. 25 in last week's coaches poll. Though the Seminoles are now 0-3 and in crisis, the win still helped the Tigers move up in the rankings.
The Tigers were the top-ranked Group of Five team in the coaches poll, but they weren't the only ranked one. UNLV, which won at Kansas on Friday night, checked in at No. 25. NIU and Boise State received the next-highest number of votes among Group of Five teams.
Now the focus shifts to American Athletic Conference play. Memphis will be on the road again on Saturday (2:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network) to face Navy in Annapolis.
