Where Memphis football finished in college football polls after Week 9, win over Charlotte

Welcome back to the top 25, Memphis football.

The Tigers re-entered the US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday afternoon, checking in at No. 25 after their win over Charlotte on Saturday. It's the first time Memphis has cracked the rankings since Sept. 21, when the Tigers lost 56-44 to Navy.

Memphis (7-1, 3-1 AAC) has won four straight games since then, even though the last two wins against North Texas and Charlotte haven't been without problems. The Tigers needed a last-minute touchdown drive to beat the 49ers on Saturday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

The other Group of Five teams ranked in the coaches poll are Boise State (No. 19) and Army (No. 21). Navy, which lost to Notre Dame on Saturday, fell out of the rankings.

Boise State earned a critical win over UNLV and is the favorite to claim the Group of Five's spot in the College Football Playoff. Memphis needs Army or Navy to lose a conference game to have a chance to reach the AAC title game.

The Tigers landed just outside the Top 25 in the AP Poll. Memphis received 34 votes, which put them two spots outside the rankings.

Memphis is back in action Saturday (11 a.m., ESPN2) when it heads on the road to face UTSA (3-5, 1-3).
