College basketball coaches are just slightly higher on the Marquette men's team than media members.

The Golden Eagles, entering their fourth season under head coach Shaka Smart, are No. 17 in the USA TODAY Preseason Poll voted on by coaches and released Wednesday.

MU was ranked 18th in the Associated Press preseason poll that was released earlier this month.

At Big East media day, the Golden Eagles were picked to finish fourth in the conference by the league's coaches.
