Where will Clemson LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr. go in NFL draft? Top 5 landing spots
CLEMSON — Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. enters the NFL Draft as a multi-time All-America linebacker and the sixth Butkus Award finalist in Clemson football history.
The three-year Tiger is the son of Jeremiah Trotter, who played 11 seasons in the NFL, and has a nose for the football, leading Clemson in tackles in back-to-back seasons. During his two seasons as a starter, he recorded 177 tackles, including 28.5 for loss (13 sacks), and had 14 pass breakups and four interceptions.
Trotter tied for first in the 3-cone drill with 7.13 seconds and tied for third in the shuttle drill at the NFL Scouting Combine. He did not participate in the 40-yard dash, broad jump and vertical jump at the combine and Clemson’s Pro Day. He worked out privately at Clemson Tuesday, where he ran the 40 and completed other drills, but no times were released.

Here are the top five destinations for the Tigers' stud linebacker:
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. NFL draft projection 1: Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks signed Jerome Baker and Tyrel Dodson to one-year deals this offseason to replace Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks. Behind them, there isn't much experience, and both may not return next season. First-year coach Mike Macdonald coached the Ravens' defense for the past two years, where he had esteemed linebacker play from Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen.
Seattle using a middle-round pick to draft a hard-nosed linebacker like Trotter and developing him into one of those caliber players would be an immense boost for the Seahawks.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. NFL draft projection 2: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers let Devin White walk in free agency, and Lavonte David enters his 13th season in the NFL. Although they have 2021 fifth-round pick K.J. Britt and 2023 fifth-round pick SirVocea Dennis, they can add more depth to see which players will fit best alongside David.
Trotter, whose dad played for Tampa Bay in 2007, can bring his hard-hitting style to the Bucs' roster as a Day 2 or 3 selection.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. NFL draft projection 3: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers signed Queen to a three-year deal to strengthen their linebacker corps. Their linebackers dealt with injuries last year, and Queen will be a difference-maker for them. The Steelers can double down on improving that position by drafting Trotter on Day 2 or 3.
Trotter would join a franchise that has a pantheon of historic NFL linebackers, like Jack Lambert and James Harrison, and develop under Queen and coach Mike Tomlin, who attended Clemson's Pro Day in March.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. NFL draft projection 4: Washington Commanders
The Commanders signed Frankie Luvu and Wagner to complement Jamin Davis under first-year coach Dan Quinn. Still, Wager turns 34 in June and inked only a one-year deal with Washington, potentially leading to a brief reunion with Quinn and linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr.
Washington drafting Trotter to learn under Wagner for a season would prove fruitful in the rookie's development, which could lead him to become a defensive stalwart for this era of Commanders football.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. NFL draft projection 5: Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons signed Kaden Ellis last offseason, and it paid dividends for them with Ellis having a career high in tackles (second most on team) and tackles for loss (most). Third-year undrafted linebacker Nathan Landman re-signed this offseason to a one-year deal, which opens the door for another middle linebacker to come in to compete for second string or add depth.
Trotter can provide that for the Falcons on Day 2 or 3 after they address their edge rusher, cornerback and wide receiver needs.
