Watch: South Carolina coach Dawn Staley celebrates national championship at Disney World

COLUMBIA — South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley continued her national title-winning celebrations with a victory parade at Disney World on Saturday.

Staley, along with assistant coaches, rode through Disney on a float with various characters, donning Gamecocks championship shirts and Mickey Mouse ears.

After the Gamecocks defeated Iowa to win the national championship on April 7, Staley claimed her third title and enthusiastically yelled into the microphone that she was "heading to Disney World." That statement came true 20 days later.

No players were spotted with Staley on Saturday, appearing that only the coaches traveled to Florida for the special celebration.

Center Kamilla Cardoso was drafted by the Chicago Sky on April 15 and is now preparing for the upcoming WNBA season.

Final exams began on April 24 at the University of South Carolina and end on May 1, which may explain the absence of Gamecocks players at Disney World.

Staley's post championship era has been filled with notable travel and news, ranging from a trip to France, cards from Beyoncé and getting to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. The city of Columbia, South Carolina, officially celebrated the Gamecocks 2024 title win on April 14 with a parade through downtown.
