How to watch the Detroit Tigers without Bally Sports Detroit, via Fubo free trial
The Detroit Tigers' Opening Day is here against the Chicago White Sox. Here's how you can watch that game and the 161 others this season as the Tigers try to take the next step with a young squad and snap a playoff drought that began in 2015.
It is still the same television and streaming setup entering the 2024 season for Detroit with Bally Sports Detroit carrying all games outside of nationally broadcasted games. The broadcast team will have a new primary voice in play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti, who joined the Tigers this offseason after previously working with the White Sox.
As of now, there have been no changes to the Tigers' broadcast options, despite a recently announced deal between Amazon and Diamond Sports Group, Bally Sports Detroit's parent company, that would bring MLB games to Amazon Prime. Though the companies agreed to a deal, it is still pending court approval, and Bally Sports contracts run through the end of the 2024 baseball season. According to an FAQ posted to the Bally website in January, more details will be released regarding the partnership when it is finalized.

Fubo
If you do not have cable, you can watch Tigers games with Fubo, a streaming platform that carries nearly every channel imaginable, including Bally Sports Detroit.
Fubo prices start at $59.99 for the first month. All plans include a week-long free trial, as well as the ability to stream on up to 10 screens at the same time.
You can also stream college football, the NFL, NBA, NHL, Premier League and most other sports leagues you can think of, in addition to carrying regular programming found on traditional channels such as CBS or NBC.
Cable
The vast majority of games will be carried by Bally Sports Detroit, which can be on cable plans throughout Michigan and parts of Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin. Some games will be on national broadcasts carried by ESPN, TBS, FS1, Fox and Apple TV. In the Detroit area, Bally can be added to DirecTV or Comcast Xfinity as a part of a cable package. Online streaming packages such as YouTube TV and Hulu+ do not carry Bally Sports Detroit.
The Tigers will play one game on Apple TV on May 31 against the Red Sox, ESPN will carry the Little League Classic against the Yankees on Aug. 18, FS1 will carry three games (May 6 vs. Guardians, May 20 vs. Royals and July 8 vs. Guardians), while TBS has yet to announce it's full schedule for the season.

Streaming
If you do not have cable and want to watch the Tigers, you can make an account with Bally Sports and watch games online or through their app on TV, called Bally Sports+. Bally Sports+ costs $19.99 a month or $189.99 for a full year and will allow you to watch every single Tigers game outside of the national broadcast (plus the Pistons, Red Wings and some high school sports as well). Bally Sports+ requires you to enter a zip code when signing up, meaning you will get the broadcast if you live within the region.
For those living outside of the Bally Sports Detroit umbrella, you can watch every Tigers game with an MLB.tv subscription, allowing out-of-market fans to watch their team. A yearly All Teams subscription, which allows you to watch all 30 MLB teams, cost $149.99 a year or $39.99 per month, while a single team subscription costs $129.99 if you just want to watch the Tigers. Blackout restrictions apply to MLB.tv, so you cannot watch games in the local market or on national TV until the game is over.
