How to watch Columbus Crew face 2023 Leagues Cup champs Inter Miami in round of 16 match
For the Crew to continue advancing in Leagues Cup, they have to defeat the reigning tournament champion, Inter Miami, in the round of 16.
On Tuesday, Miami will head into Lower.com Field without its star forward Lionel Messi, who is sidelined with a right ankle injury, but Miami is riding the momentum of overcoming Toronto FC in the round of 32. Down a man for a majority of the match after defender David Martinez received a red card in the 28th minute, Miami pulled out a 4-3 victory behind two goals from midfielder Matias Rojas.
The Crew reached the round of 16 after an overpowering 4-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City, a club Columbus had already defeated 4-0 during the regular season.
In the Crew's first regular-season match against Miami on June 19, Columbus lost 2-1 after allowing Miami to score two goals in the first 25 minutes of play.
"Obviously, this is a good game to play, against a good team," Crew coach Wilfried Nancy said. "Last time that we played, we could have done better, but they did well also, so this is not revenge, this is nothing (like that). This is just another game to go through."
