Lionel Messi ruled out for MLS All-Star Game in Columbus at Lower.com Field
Inter Miami's Lionel Messi will not participate in Wednesday's MLS All-Star game in Columbus.
Messi was hurt during the Copa America final on July 14. While playing for Argentina as its captain, Messi took a non-contact fall and, according to a statement made by Miami, injured a ligament in his right ankle. Messi was sidelined for Miami's two games leading into the All-Star break following the final.
Messi also missed the first Crew-Miami meeting of the season on June 19, as he had already departed for training camp ahead of the Copa America tournament. The last time Messi played in an MLS game was June 1, and there is no timeline for when he is expected to return.
Messi and Miami are scheduled to be in Columbus on Oct. 2 for another matchup against the Crew.
