Vote for the Oklahoma City-area high school athletes of week, Jan. 29

The Oklahoman's winter sport athletes of the week poll for Jan. 23-29 presented by Landmark Fine Homes is now live at oklahoman.com.

Voting is open until noon Sunday. You don't have to be a subscriber to vote, and you can cast one vote every hour, per device.

The winners of the Jan. 16-22 poll were Kobe Freeman of Purcell boys basketball, Skylar Durley of Classen SAS girls basketball, Gavin Davis of Mustang boys swimming, Avery Littlefield of Stillwater girls swimming, Tyler Jones of Douglass boys wrestling and Eliana Banks of Shawnee girls wrestling.

Boys basketball

Cal Furnish, Jr., Crossings Christian: Furnish was honored for reaching 1,000 career points before the Knights' 52-point victory over Western Heights on Tuesday. On Friday, his 19 points against Class 3A's first-ranked Oklahoma Christian School helped Crossings Christian improve to 13-3.

Luke Gray, Sr., Oklahoma Christian School: Gray continued his hot streak on Saturday, scoring a career-high 50 points against Harding Charter. His career night came shortly after he was honored for passing Blake Griffin as the all-time leading scorer in Saints program history.

Carter RomanNose, Jr., El Reno: The Indians star guard had a dominant outing against Altus, scoring 31 points in the first half in a 55-point win. His performance also saw him eclipse the 1,000-point mark in El Reno's program history.

Chianté Tramble, Sr., Edmond North: The Huskies star guard averaged 27 points in commanding wins over rivals Edmond Memorial and Deer Creek. Tramble drained a combined 13 three-pointers in both games to help improve Edmond North to 12-2.

Girls basketball

Jerney Bennett, Sr., Edmond Santa Fe: Bennett poured in 28 points as Edmond Santa Fe spoiled Putnam West’s perfect record with a 58-53 upset. She shot 10 for 15 from the field and went 8 for 9 from the free-throw line as the Wolves made a second-half comeback.

Brandie Harrod, Jr., Millwood: Harrod recorded 18 points as Millwood shattered Dale’s undefeated record with a 55-51 victory. She stuffed the stat sheet with 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Allison Heathcock, Sr., Edmond North: Heathcock reached 1,000 career points during the past week as Edmond North defeated Edmond Memorial and Deer Creek. The Creighton signee totaled 43 points, 13 rebounds and five steals through the two games.

Ava McIntyre, Jr., Oklahoma Christian School: McIntyre tallied a game-high 20 points in the Saints’ 52-33 win against rival Crossings Christian. With 11 rebounds, she had a double-double.

Boys wrestling

Chase Graham, Jr., Christian Heritage Academy: He pinned his four opponents at the Clinton Hub City Tournament last week, winning the heavyweight title.

Brogan Hardy, Sr., Piedmont: Hardy, who is set to play football at the University of Central Oklahoma, won the 215-pound championship and helped lead Piedmont to the team crown at the Chickasha High School Classic last week.

Hayze Ivey, Jr., Southmoore: He had a solid tournament at the Chickasha High School Classic, placing second at 150 pounds.

Liam Russell, Sr., Harrah: He claimed the 113-pound title last week at the Midwestern Conference Tournament at FireLake Arena in Shawnee. Russell’s performance helped Harrah win the team championship.

Jace Province, Jr., Deer Creek: He won the 138-pound championship last week at the Big 4+4 Tournament in Ponca City.

Ean Wells, Jr., Community Christian: He put together strong performances at the Midwestern Conference Tournament on his way to winning the 132-pound crown.

Girls wrestling

Amelia Earhart, Jr., Little Axe: She finished as the 145-pound champion last week at the Midwestern Conference Tournament at FireLake Arena in Shawnee. Little Axe edged McLoud 188-186 for the team title.

J`niya Mays-Morrison, So., Douglass: Mays-Morrison pinned the three opponents she faced at the Clinton Hub City Tournament last week as she claimed the 235-pound championship.

Tatum McDaniel, So., Newcastle: McDaniel was dominant at 155 pounds as she pinned her three opponents and won the title at the Midwestern Conference Tournament.

Taygen Otey, Jr., Kingfisher: She had a strong showing at the Clinton Hub City Tournament, winning the title at 120 pounds.

Trinity Rakestraw, Jr., Tecumseh: She pinned her three opponents at the Midwestern Conference Tournament on her way to claiming the 130-pound championship.

Launa Troutt, So., McLoud: She played a big role in McLoud’s second-place finish at the Midwestern Conference Tournament, winning the 115-pound title.
