It is time to vote for the girls athlete of the week from the Tuscaloosa area for the week of Jan. 8-13. The vote will remain open until Friday at noon.
All five nominees come from performances last week. All sports are considered when picking nominees, as long as the athlete was on The Tuscaloosa News' top performer list from the week before.
In alphabetical order, the nominees are:
Izzy Burrows, Holy Spirit, put up 12 points to go with six rebounds, five assists and four steals in a 58-29 win over South Lamar
Sinaya Gibson, Hillcrest, had 17 points to go with 10 rebounds in a 64-24 win over Sipsey Valley
Jakeya Horton, Northridge, scored 22 points to go with 10 rebounds in the 68-60 win over Central
Sky Latham, Gordo, led the team with 37 points along with 10 rebounds and 10 steals in the 60-57 overtime win versus Winfield
Ella Wheeler, Sulligent, scored 35 points to go with four rebounds, three steals and two assists in the 51-40 win over Marion County
