It is time to vote for the boys athlete of the week from the Tuscaloosa area for the week of Jan. 8-13. The vote will remain open until Friday at noon.
All five nominees come from performances last week. All sports are considered when picking nominees, as long as the athlete was on The Tuscaloosa News' top performer list from the week before.
In alphabetical order, the nominees are:
Will Jackson, Fayette County, led the team with 24 points and three steals in a 63-53 win over Gordo
Sheldrick McNeal Jr., Tuscaloosa County, put up 17 points to go with nine rebounds in a 50-44 loss to Vestavia Hills
CJ Thompson, Holy Spirit, led the team with 26 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 71-60 loss to South Lamar
Anderson Wilkin, Northridge, scored a game-high 15 points in the 51-45 win over Class 6A No. 3 ranked Helena
Hunter Wood, Sulligent, put up 20 points to go with 13 rebounds and seven blocks in the 70-38 win over South Lamar
