It is time to vote for the boys athlete of the week from the Tuscaloosa area for the week of Jan. 5. The vote will remain open until Friday at noon.
All five nominees come from performances last week. All sports are considered when picking nominees, as long as the athlete was on The Tuscaloosa News' top performer list from the week before.
In alphabetical order, the nominees are:
Joseph Jones. Holy Spirit, had a double-double in the 65-53 win over Holt, putting up 18 points and 11 rebounds
Jackson Moore, Tuscaloosa County, led the team with 17 points in the 50-44 loss to Vestavia Hills
Antonious Steele, Bibb County, led the team with 18 points in a 57-45 win over Sipsey Valley
Javion Taylor, Central, put up 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the 48-45 win over Francis Marion
CJ Thompson, Holy Spirit, put up 25 points, four rebounds and four assists, along with three steals in the 81-54 win over Berry
