Pickens Academy's Kate Wilkins scores 1,000-career points to lead top performers
Here are the high school basketball top performers in the Tuscaloosa area for the week of Jan. 5.
Boys basketball
American Christian Academy's Davis Dare added 21 points and four assists in the 88-52 win over Thomasville.
Bibb County's Antonious Steele led the team with 18 points in a 57-45 win over Sipsey Valley, and Elijah Jackson added 13 points of his own.
Central's Javion Taylor put up 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the 48-45 win over Francis Marion, while Thaddeus Long scored 10 points and snagged four steals.
Holy Spirit's CJ Thompson put up 25 points, four rebounds and four assists, along with three steals in the 81-54 win over Berry. Alex Tant logged 14 points, while Ethan Ryan added 13 and Joseph Jones added six.
Holy Spirit's Joseph Jones had a double-double in the 65-53 win over Holt, putting up 18 points and 11 rebounds. CJ Thompson added 14 points of his own, while Alex Tant added 12 and Ethan Ryan 11.
Northridge's John Walker put up 16 points in the 58-49 win over Hale County, while Anderson Wilkin added 15. Jack Sanderson also logged six points, 15 rebounds, four blocks and three steals in the win.
Tuscaloosa Academy's William Mullin led the Knights with 13 points in the 34-33 loss to Francis Marion.
Tuscaloosa County's Jackson Moore led the team with 17 points in the 50-44 loss to Vestavia Hills, while Sheldrick McNeal Jr. added 15.

Girls basketball
Bibb County's Chartavia Conwell led the team with 11 points in the 42-29 win over Sipsey Valley. McKenzie Terry and Kanasha Hill both added 9 points each.
Central's Aaliyah Golston put up 19 points and brought down 12 rebounds in the 49-25 win over Francis Marion. Airreale Norfleet added 15 points and Jakhiya Smith added 10. Smith was recently honored for reaching 1,000-career points and rebounds, and Golston was honored for reaching 1,000-career points.
Hillcrest's Trinity Braggs scored a team-high 12 points followed by JJ Davis-Hines with 10 in the 52-27 win over Paul W. Bryant.
Holy Spirit's Genesis Lee put up 15 points and four rebounds in the 46-22 win over Berry. Izzy Burrows and Berkley Young added 10 points of their own in the win.
Holy Spirit saw two players put up double-doubles in the 55-25 win over Holt, with Izzy Burrows putting up 21 points and 10 rebounds followed by Berkley Young with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Northridge's Jakeya Horton scored a team-high 21 points in the 57-51 loss to Hale County. Ryan Bardenwerper added 13 points of her own and Tremyah Washington logged 12 rebounds.
Pickens Academy's Kate Wilkins celebrated scoring 1,000-career points.
Sipsey Valley's Laila Young had 14 points in the 42-29 loss to Bibb County.
Tuscaloosa County's Breonna Walker put up 12 points in the 46-23 win over Spain Park. Zoe Carter and Macy Hudgins each added 11 points of their own.
