Vote now for your Tuscaloosa area boy and girl athlete of the week, week of March 18-22

It is time to vote for the boy and girl athlete of the week from the Tuscaloosa area for the week of March 18-22.

Tuscaloosa County's Anna Grace Bush won the girls vote last week with 74% of votes while Paul W. Bryant's Javion Johnson won the boys vote with 59% of votes. Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers from the week before. Voting will remain open until noon Thursday.

Tuscaloosa area boys athlete of the week nominations

  • Jackson Henderson, Hillcrest, picked up the win on the mound in a 5-0 win over Pelham, giving up no runs on one hit with 10 strikeouts and three walks through 6.0 innings pitched.

  • Walker Hill, American Christian Academy, scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Sipsey Valley.

  • Kyle Nunnally, Northridge, went 3-for-5 on the week with two doubles, three runs, an RBI and a stolen base.

  • Anton Schmidt, Tuscaloosa Academy, scored four goals in an 8-1 win over Sipsey Valley.

  • Armani White, Central, finished 3-for-4 from the plate with three runs, one triple, one RBI and one stolen base, including a single in the bottom of the eighth to score the winning run in a 6-5 win over Tuscaloosa Academy in eight innings. White also pitched 5.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on eight hits and striking out five batters.

Tuscaloosa area girls athlete of the week nominations

  • Gracie Dice, North River Christian Academy, went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple in a 13-5 win over Cornerstone Christian Academy. Dice also had 2 RBIs, three stolen bases and four runs.

  • Addison Golden, American Christian Academy, scored four goals in a 5-0 win over Brookwood.

  • Allee Hathcock, Tuscaloosa County, scored four goals and had one assist in a 6-1 win over Hillcrest and led the team with six shots on goal.

  • Mackenzie Nece, Hillcrest, went 2-for-3 with a grand slam in a 11-5 win over McAdory.

  • Allie Wagner, Tuscaloosa Academy, defeated Indian Springs' Nalder by a score of 9-8 in line two singles in a 7-2 team loss to Indian Springs.
