Vote now for your Tuscaloosa area boy and girl athlete of the week, week of March 11-15

It is time to vote for the boy and girl athlete of the week from the Tuscaloosa area for the week of March 11-15.

Brookwood's Shayla May won the girls vote with 58% of votes while Northside's Seth Gear won the boys vote with 80% of votes. Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers from the week before. Voting will remain open until noon Thursday.

Tuscaloosa area boys athlete of the week nominations

  • Davis Dare, ACA baseball, had an RBI double in a 5-0 win over Oak Mountain.

  • Jackson Henderson, Hillcrest baseball, picked up the complete game shutout win on the mound in a 1-0 win over Friendship Christian (TN) by throwing 7.0 innings, giving up no runs and six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.

  • Javion Johnson, Paul W. Bryant baseball, recorded a triple and scored a run in a 15-0 win over Rich Township (IL).

  • Kole Nicholson, Tuscaloosa County baseball, finished the week with five RBIs on five hits, including two home runs and two doubles.

  • Jack Sanderson, Northridge baseball, went 1-for-3 from the plate with the game winning RBI and a run in a 3-2 win over Bibb County.

Tuscaloosa area girls athlete of the week nominations

  • Anna Grace Bush, Tuscaloosa County softball, finished the week batting .429 with an on-base percentage of .500.

  • Nichole Dockery, Hillcrest softball, finished the week going 8-for-16 from the plate, scoring nine runs to go with two home runs, seven RBIs and five stolen bases.

  • Peyton Earp, Tuscaloosa County softball, finished the week batting .409 with an on-base percentage of .500. She added three doubles, one triple, three RBIs, three stolen bases and scored six runs. From the circle, she pitched 12 ⅔ innings with an ERA of 1.10 and 10 strikeouts.

  • KB Lacy, Winfield softball, threw a complete game shutout in a 17-0 win over South Lamar. Lacy went 2-for-2 from the plate with two home runs and four RBIs.

  • Hanna Kimbrell, Winfield softball, went 3-for-4 from the plate with two doubles, one single and three RBIs in a 15-0 win over Phil Campbell.
