It's time to make your choice for the Austin-area girls high school athlete of the week for Jan. 22 through Jan. 27 McCallum basketball player Emy Chen was voted the top girls athlete for the week of Jan. 15-20.
BOYS: Vote for the Austin-area boys high school athlete of the week
This week's list includes a pair of soccer goalkeepers along with three basketball players:
Hope Edwards, Cedar Park basketball
Edwards recorded her 1,000th career point in a 58-36 win over Lockhart on Jan. 23 and then scored 13 points to lead the Timberwolves past Hays 52-27 on Jan. 26.
Kyla Jones, Vandegrift soccer
The Vipers' freshman goalkeeper posted shutouts in back-to-back district matches, a 7-0 win over Manor on Jan. 23 and a 0-0 draw with McNeil on Jan. 26.
Paulete Mbuangi, Navarro basketball
Scored 54 points in a 73-9 win over Eastside on Jan. 26. She's averaging 27 points per game for Navarro, which is in second place in district.
Kemah Shaw, Austin High basketball
Scored 27 points along with two rebounds, two assists and two steals in the defending district champion Maroons' 52-38 win over Johnson on Jan. 23.
Colette Whitsitt, Lake Travis soccer
The Cavaliers' goalkeeper posted her 10th career shutout in a 6-0 win over Del Valle on Jan. 23.
