Vote for the Austin-area boys high school athlete of the week
It's time to make your choice for the Austin-area boys high school athlete of the week for Jan. 22 through Jan. 27. Del Valle soccer player Octavio Estrada was voted the top boys athlete for the week of Jan. 15-20.
This week's list includes two more soccer players as well as three boys basketball players.
GIRLS: Vote for the Austin-area girls high school athlete of the week
Here are this week's candidates:
Jake Broxterman, St. Michael's basketball
Scored 26 points, including eight 3-pointers, in an 84-51 win over Regents on Jan. 26. The Crusaders were 28-1 on the season heading into this week.
Graham Gilbert, LASA soccer
Recorded a three-goal hat trick in a 6-1 win over Crockett on Jan. 27. Gilbert is averaging two goals per match this season.
Davaughn Hueitt, Stony Point basketball
Recorded a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Tigers past Round Rock 56-51 on Jan. 26. The Tigers were 26-1 heading into this week.
Qui Raun Pressley, Georgetown basketball
Averaged 17.5 points in the Eagles' 72-62 win over Connally and 66-52 win over Pflugerville.
Cody Urquiza, Weiss soccer
Played a part in all three goals in the Wolves' 3-0 win over Harker Heights on Jan. 26, finishing with two goals and an assist.
